Philosophy of GlitterComm

The purpose of GlitterComm is to connect friends who want to play a tabletop RPG online, but with the experience being as close as possible to playing at the table.

It's all about the human factor. That's why I said "friends" in the above paragraph. Nevertheless, I can totally see people hooking up on a message board to organize sessions.

This is not a computer game. It doesn't contain any rules. So, what is it then? It's the table; a virtual table with some useful gaming utensils. What happens at the table is up to the people around it.

There is no immediate flashy computer feedback for your actions, the Game Master describes what's going on... just like at the table. There are no security monitors to see what players change on their character sheets, if you play with cheaters it is your own fault... just like at the table. You still need to buy your rulebooks to know the rules of the game you are playing, and you still need to refer to them while playing... just like at the table.

What it does provide is a means to chat, roll dice, track initiative, map, and perform battles using virtual minis; everything from within the same application and with an easy to use interface. Read a full description of features for more information.

Whenever I'm thinking how to go about an aspect of the program, this is the phrase that I repeat again and again: just like at the table. I want to keep the human factor wherever possible, but with facilities to keep the game going without long delays.
